New York: around the city, October 2009 : In case you didn’t know, New York is a spectacular city. The variety and diversity, the hustle and bustle, and the sheer breadth and height of the place all mean that with a camera in your hand you’re unlikely to be bored for long. Coming separately are some of my many photos from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Cloisters.

Albany, October 2009 : In theory Albany was only going to be a stepping-stone as I passed from Montreal to Boston. However, some sunshine and a massive variation of architectural style used in the various government buildings—including an enormous amount of marble—meant that I was able to spend a very pleasant morning there taking photographs.

Snow, Rain, and Ski : Greg and I went to Villars (in Vaud) for our first skiing experience, which led me to decide that I hadn’t found a vocation as a skier. He loved it so much, however, that we went to Morzine (in the Haute Savoie) a couple of days later, him to ski, me ostensibly to take photos. However, the cold driving rain kept me inside most of the day (although, as you’ll see, I risked my equipment going out on a few occasions), but Greg continued regardless, paying no heed to the wetness of his exterior.

Mont Vully, Saturday, 3rd November 2007 : Isobel and I travelled from Geneva to Sugiez in the Canton of Fribourg to climb Mont Vully—a veritable hill when compared to many Swiss mountains. Vully sits between three lakes: the Lac de Morat (Murtensee), the Lac de Neuchâtel, and the Lac de Bienne (Bielersee). We could only see the Lac de Morat from the summit of the mountain: the others were covered in a heavy mist which impeded visibility.
