Jeeves and Towcester • Jeeves (Binny) and the Earl of Towcester (Ben Dollard) in one of their many conferences which take place during the course of the play. This was the first full dress rehearsal at the Kilburn Institute, but Jeeves hadn’t yet procured a tie.

Comforting Mrs Spottsworth • Bill, the Earl of Towcester (Ben Dollard) comforts Mrs Spottsworth (Jane Wilson) after he and Jeeves had enmeshed her in the drawing room curtains, believing her to be Captain Biggar (Mike Edwards, behind). At the first full dress rehearsal.

With the pendant • Jeeves (Binny) brings in Mrs Spottsworth’s stolen pendant, which Bill and Biggar were to use as collateral for a bet. Jeeves is carrying the stick because ultimately he would be dressed in the costume of Lady Agatha.

Indian costumes • These Indians in costumes spent a couple of days on the Royal Mile advertising their own show.

Bad technique • After three years putting on plays at the Fringe, we’ve come across most viable flyering techniques. Some of our Company even tried this last year, and demonstrated that sitting on the ground expecting people to take fliers from you is not a good way to advertise a show. Here another group is learning this mistake for themselves.

Carmoyles • Lord (Will Dollard) and Lady Carmoyle (Alice Robinson) on the Royal Mile. Evidently his lordship felt like wearing green flash trainers that morning. I’m not sure that they go so well with that tweed suit.

Will • Will Dollard on the Royal Mile. This was now so late in our run of performances that most of the black dye he’d used on his hair had washed out. In spite of this, most of the audiences seemed not to realise that the Earl of Towcester and Lord Carmoyle—brothers-in-law on-stage—were being played by twin brother actors.

Alternative ending • Mike Edwards and Ben Dollard propose an alternative ending for the play, which Tom Evans filmed. This all took place before the audience came in, of course.
