The three statues above the door of the Los Angeles Superior Court: representing Mosaic Law, Magna Carta, and the Declaration of Independence. It feels slightly un-American to me—even if it is of course justified—that they should put such importance on both the Mosaic law (since the Constitution provides for independence of religion) and on the Magna Carta.

The sanctuary of the cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles. It took me a while at Mass before I realized that the alabaster window above the sanctuary was divided up by a cross shape. The horizontal bar of the cross slopes downward from back to front, thus maximizing the amount of light coming in from the top two quadrants.
